does the military need x-ray technicians?
Deanna Asked: does the military need x-ray technicians?
i plan on going to college to become an x-ray technician, and after those two years i was planning on going to the military for probably four years… does the military have a need for x-ray techs, or would i just have to serve on the front line or what?

The military x-ray techs are trained by the military. I don't know that your college education would necessarily give you an advantage if that is what you are going in for. There are no "front lines" anymore as far as the current military combat operations esp in the Middle East. As an x-ray tech, your primary responsibility will be inside the hospital performing x-ray duties.

Yes, the military has a need for them. They have their own MOS.

Going to college really does not matter, because the military will still send you to school for X-ray tech. Most likely you will work in the base hospital.

The military needs x-ray techs- when a bomb goes off you will need the latest imaging technology
to find the shrapnel to prevent them from getting a purple heart posthumously.
I would ask your local recruiter- if you they would still require you to take their x-ray tech courses or if they would accept your civilian certificates or Associates degree or if they would expect you to take all of their x-ray courses. Personally I would recommend enlisting and getting the military's training since they pay you- and it won't matter if being pretrained helped you or not because civilian hospitals and doctors will accept military training and experience.
